Texas Flood Insurance Quote |
Texas Flood Insurance provides protection from losses due to "rising water". Flood Insurance in Texas iis provided through a U.S. government (FEMA) program. Regular Homeowner's Insurance Policies do not cover losses from flood and rising water.
|
Texas Flood Insurance policies fall into two categories. Properties are either inside or outside flood zones as defined by FEMA flood maps. Properties that are in a designated flood zone are more likely to be affected by flooding. Mortgage companies almost always require flood insurance on properties that are in a flood zone. If you live in a flood zone, it is a very good idea to have flood insurance even if it is not required.
|
Properties that are outside the designated flood zones can still flood and it is a good idea to have flood insurance. Rates for flood insurance homes outside of flood zones are very reasonable considering the coverage they give.

Flood Insurance Rates and Costs:
Rates for Flood Insurance are set by FEMA. Rates will be the same no matter which insurance agent writes the policy. Rates are lower for properties that are not located in designated flood zones than for properties which are in flood zones. For properties that are outside a flood zone, cost of coverage is easy to figure and is based on the amount of coverage you select. For properties that are inside a flood zone, rates are based on the elevation of the property. The more likely the property is to flood, the higher the rates.
